The ballot statistics for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections have been released by the Electoral Commission (EC).
The EC said in a statement on Monday, October 14, 2024, that the ballot statistics will direct the ballot printing process before to the general elections.
The Commission emphasized that in order to account for unforeseeable occurrences, it took into account the entire number of voters on the 2024 Provisional Voters Register (PVR) plus an additional 2%. They pointed out that this approach avoids shortages or needless waste while guaranteeing there will be enough ballots to serve all registered voters.
The Commission recognized that not all registered voters may cast ballots on election day, but it nonetheless encouraged full turnout. It did, however, convey confidence that the 2% buffer would be enough to produce a sufficient quantity of ballots for the election.
The EC reaffirmed that this approach, which involves increasing the number of voters by a percentage, has been in use since 1992 and has worked well in previous elections.
The public has been exhorted by the Commission to have faith in its capacity to fulfill its responsibility to conduct free and fair elections.
