The Ashanti Region’s Kejetia Market traders are warning that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is about to cut off power because the market’s management owes them an astounding GH¢400,000.

The traders claim that ECG has threatened to disconnect the company due to the management’s inability to pay the debt, which would put a complete stop to trading activities.

OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng interviewed Nana Prempeh, the head of the Federation of Kumasi Traders, on Friday, and he confirmed the debt.

Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, was urged by Nana Prempeh to step in and set up an urgent stakeholder meeting in order to settle the dispute and stop the disconnection.

To prevent upsetting their businesses, the vendors are keen to find a solution.
