The head coach of Egypt, Rui Vitoria, has issued a strong warning to the Black Stars ahead of their upcoming match at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Thursday, January 18, 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Ghana.
After a determined Mozambican team nearly defeated them, the seven-time African champions were unlucky to have Mohamed Salah convert from the spot to steal a late draw.
“Mozambique has a solid team, I said it before meeting them and that’s what happened today.
“They used this low pack to give us a lot of tactical difficulties. This team has quality midfield players. They exploited the holes they discovered in us,” Vitoria remarked.
“The story will be different. We would have to close down the spaces and focus more because even the smallest error costs us dearly when playing against a team with as much experience as Ghana,” he stated.
Regarding their defensive mistakes, Vitoria stated that they would have to rectify them immediately because, in the event that they play teams like Ghana, they will suffer heavy penalties.
Coach Vitoria claims that their opponents presented them with numerous tactical challenges and that they faced a strong midfield opponent.
