According to the Electoral Commission (EC), a rerun of the parliamentary election in the Greater Accra Region’s Ablekuma North Constituency is not being considered until all required procedures have been completed.

This was said by Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, the Deputy EC Chair, during his Thursday appearance before Parliament.

He clarified that in order to finish the collation and properly announce the election winner, the Commission needs sufficient security protection.

Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Majority Chief Whip, asked why the EC had not yet announced the results for the Ablekuma North seat. Dr. Bossman Asare’s remarks addressed his question.

However, the Electoral Commission maintains that due process must be followed before any decisions are taken, despite pressure in recent weeks to address the delay in releasing the final result.
