Entrepreneur Ernest Kobeah withdrew from consideration for the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) flagbearer position.

Mr. Kobeah was one of the four who had submitted an application to run for the position of flagbearer, but he has since dropped out of the campaign to support the late President John Dramani Mahama.

The primary opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) delayed Mr. Kobeah’s background investigation on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

On the same day that Dr. Kwabena Duffour was to appear before the vetting committee, the investor was also slated.

Mr. Kobeah spent less than an hour before the committee while his fellow candidate Dr. Duffour spent at least an hour and a half there because his vetting procedure was delayed.

Speaking to reporters, he disclosed that he had been requested to come back on March 29, 2023.

There is no problem, just that I have to return tomorrow (Wednesday),” he claimed. Everything is good and in order.

However, the candidate withdrew from the contest upon his return today.

After meeting behind closed doors with the vetting committee, Mr. Kobeah addressed the media and revealed that his decision to withdraw from the race was motivated by his desire to support rival John Mahama.

He added that he had the support of his family and that this choice had been carefully considered.

You have the freedom to make your own choices, so I chose on my own to back the ‘old boy’ [John Mahama], and that was the greatest move for the party and for me.
