“Everybody who knows me knows that I don’t drink alcohol” – President Akufo-Addo

When President Akufo-Addo declared in Parliament that he did not consume alcohol, there were laughter.

During the Tuesday, February 27, State of the Nation Address (SONA) on the floor of Parliament, the President began to cough and asked to have a glass of water.

A few Members of Parliament joked that the liquid might not be water.

President Akufo-Addo was sipping the water jokingly said “I don’t drink alcohol. Everybody who knows me knows that I don’t drink alcohol”.

Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, which states that the President must deliver the State of the Nation Address at the start and end of each Parliamentary Session, is followed by the SONA.

Every year, the President of the Republic delivers the State of the Nation Address to Parliament, which covers the financial, social, and economic conditions of the nation.
