To address their concerns and end the current strike, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has called the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) to a meeting.

The Ministry of Employment and Labour will host the meeting on Monday, August 19, 2024.

On June 14, 2024, CETAG declared a statewide strike in response to the government’s refusal to carry out arbitral rulings and other requirements for membership.

Now that the strike is in its second month, requests for the shutdown of educational institutions have grown.

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), however, has made it clear that the decision to shut the institutions has not yet been taken.

Key stakeholders were also invited to the meeting by FWSC, according to a statement. These stakeholders included the heads of the Public Financial Management Unit (CPMU) at the Ministry of Finance, the President of the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF), the President of CETAG, and the Director-General of GTEC.
