Inquiries into the actions of Ms. Cecilia Abena Dapaah, the former Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, and her associates have been begun concurrently by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States.

Their assets and financial dealings within the US will be the main subjects of the investigations. The collaboration’s objective is to establish the legality of Ms. Dapaah and her companions’ riches, both in terms of the flow of money from Ghana to the US and vice versa.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor tweeted about this.

A Ghanaian anti-corruption organization called the OSP was founded there in 2017. Investigation and prosecution of corruption charges involving prominent people, including public officials, fall under the purview of the agency.

The FBI is the domestic intelligence and security agency of the United States. Additionally, the agency is in charge of looking into and prosecuting cases of financial fraud, bribery, and other corruption-related offences.

The opening of the parallel investigations into Ms. Dapaah and her associates marks a significant advancement in the OSP’s investigation into Ms. Dapaah.

Following accusations they made to the Police over some stolen cash in their home by their maid, Cecilia Dapaah and her husband have made headlines.

They reported their maid’s theft of about $1 million in cash from their bedroom to the police.

The maid stole some money in Ghana cedis and euros, as well as clothing and jewelry, according to the police report.

After the information was made public, the OSP intervened to look into the money’s origin.

In order to stop the OSP from investigating and prosecuting her and her husband, Daniel Osei Kufuor, for alleged corruption, she is, nevertheless, requesting an interlocutory injunction.
