In the Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constituency of the Central Region, a number of disgruntled supporters and branch executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have urged the party’s national leadership to step in and resolve what they see as escalating tensions brought on by the actions of their Member of Parliament, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

A representative for the unhappy group, Solomon Yaw Bentsil, organized a news conference where the MP, who is also the Presidency’s Minister of Communication, was charged with insubordination, arrogance, and dividing the constituency.

Before the crisis jeopardizes the party’s chances in the general elections of 2028, the organization urged President John Dramani Mahama and national executives to call the MP to order.

The group claims that Felix Kwakye Ofosu has caused friction and division among party members by persistently undermining Constituency Chairman Vincent Koomson’s authority.

They called on him to put an end to what they called a “blame game” and cooperate with the chairman for the party’s sake.

“We are witnessing unprecedented levels of arrogance and discrimination from  Felix Kwakye Ofosu. His actions are alienating loyal party members and weakening our grassroots base,” Bentsil stated.

The MP was also accused by the executives of ignoring well-known party members in favor of assigning unknown people to positions in the District Assembly and National Security.

They claimed that the MP had “sold” the party’s National Security slots to unidentified people, depriving dedicated NDC members of possibilities.

“If the NDC performs poorly in 2028, Felix Kwakye Ofosu should take full responsibility,” In order to avoid further alienation from the constituency, Bentsil cautioned that the MP must “reverse these appointments and show respect to the party structure.”

The MP has allegedly distanced himself from the very people that helped him win the 2024 election, according to a number of party supporters who spoke with journalist Samuel Nana Tawiah.

“Felix Kwakye Ofosu’s arrogance is a threat to the NDC’s success in this constituency.

He needs to change his ways before it’s too late,” aggrieved supporter stated.

The group emphasized that internal peace was essential to preserving the party’s electoral power in the region and called on national leadership to intervene and bring unity and discipline back to the constituency.
