Fire destroys 4 dormitories at NOBISCO, over 900 students displaced

Approximately 900 female students from the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) have been forced to relocate after a large fire destroyed the girls’ dormitory on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Reports state that personal things, such as beds, mattresses, books, uniforms, and other items, were destroyed, leaving many pupils distressed even though no casualties were reported.

The structure, housing students from four houses—Aggrey, Arthur, Ali, and Gbewaa was destroyed by the fire, causing students in class to hurriedly rush in to recover some of their items.

The blaze took several hours for the Ghana National Fire Service to bring under control.

Students present in class during the incident allegedly hurried back to the dormitory to retrieve their possessions as the fire quickly intensified.
