Residents at Abrepo Kokoso in the Bantama Constituency of the Ashanti region are calling on the authorities to fix their death trap bridge before it causes havoc in the community.
According to them, the state of the metal bridge which was constructed by one Pastor Kingsley about 4years ago has currently become a death threat to their lives.
The metal bridge is over River Akos or Punpunase which connects to the Nwabe River.
What worsen the situation is that school children put their lives in danger using the bridge. The bridge serves as the main transport means for many passersby in the community but keeps degrading anytime it rains.
Speaking to Ghanatodayonline.com reporter Ernestina Tuffour in an interview on Monday, June 20, 2022 Pastor Kingsley disclosed that, he has already bought building materials including sand, cement and stones which cost him about Ghc 20,000 to help construct the bridge but the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly(KMA) and the Regional Coordinating Council(RCC) have turn deaf ears to the plight of the residents in constructing the bridge.
“When it rains, and you are still in town, it’s always a problem” one of the commuters said
The commuters have decried the poor state of the bridge and appealed for immediate attention from the government and the Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency Hon. Asenso Boakye but to no avail.
