Sammy Gyamfi, the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s Communications Officer, has urged the police to excuse the party’s Suame Youth Organiser from charges of instigating violence.
According to reports, the NDC Youth Organiser in Suame made comments that hint to potential retaliation for state-sponsored violence during elections.
Mr. Gyamfi claimed that the “young man misspoke and must be pardoned.”
Sammy Gyamfi noted in a statement released on Tuesday that the NDC activist’s remarks were motivated by the “pain he and other NDC supporters have suffered in the hands of NPP thugs in the Ashanti Region over the years.”
Therefore, he urged the police to “focus on arresting NPP bandits and terrorists who have actually attacked a Court of Competent Jurisdiction in Kumasi and have maimed and killed numerous innocent Ghanaians” in addition to pleading with them to pardon the accused’s statements.
He further urged party members to “continue to exercise restraint” and not let the fact that President Akufo Addo came to power on the basis of so much carnage and barbarism to make them want to copy Nana Akufo Addo and his extremely violent political party.

Background
A National Democratic Congress (NDC) member is wanted by the police for inciting violence prior to the general elections in 2024.
In order to win the December 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) intends to employ acts of violence that result in casualties, according to Razak Koampa Avoliya popularly known as General Mosquito, the constituency youth organizer for Suame in the Ashanti Region.
The party leader is heard suggesting that the NDC cannot defeat the New Patriotic Party and President Akufo-Addo in Ghana’s elections through a free and fair process without resorting to violence in a video tape that has gone viral.
“My experience in politics has taught me that we the NDC cannot win an election against the NPP and Akufo-Addo on paper, we can only win through violence, and you cannot have violence without casualties” Koampa Avoliya, speaking in the interview with Oyerepa TV monitored by Ghanatodayonline.com.
“Together with the youth of Suame, we have taken a decision to visit mayhem on all NPP members because it is the only way we can survive in the political space in the country,” says Koampa Avoliya.
“As a political party, all we need is power and there is no law that indicates that power can only be acquired from the Bible. If President Akufo-Addo killed 8 people to win power, why should it be strange for the NDC to kill 2 people in Suame to pave way for John Mahama of the NDC to return to power.
If it will take firing a gun for the NDC to win power, we should do that because President Akufo-Addo has demonstrated that you can kill for power. I encourage all NDC members in the country to kill if that’s what will make us win the elections. If it will take the use of guns or sticks to kill in order to win power, just do it”, Razak stated.
In the video tape, Koampa Avoliya also claims that in order to assist the NDC win the election in 2024, he has told his branch’s youth organizers to get ready to fight any NPP members they come across.
However, according to a statement from the police, the Ashanti Regional Police Command has started the process to have this individual apprehended so he may face charges.
“The attention of the Police Service has been drawn to a viral video in which a person who identifies himself as the Youth Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Suame Constituency of the Ashanti Region calls on supporters of the NDC to attack persons of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the run-up to the 2024 General Elections” Police stated in their press release.
The police also advised political figures to exercise caution in their words and deeds and to cooperate in order to preserve the peace and security of the country.
