Former Black Stars player Christian Atsu ‘trapped in rubble’ after earthquake in Turkey

A morning earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria is believed to have caught former Black Stars footballer Christian Atsu among the fatalities.

Rescue and search operations are in progress.

Atsu presently plays for the Turkish football team Hatayspor.

Atsu is reportedly among those still missing as a search and rescue mission gets under way. Media sources indicate that the former Chelsea and Newcastle United player is among many members of his new squad who had to be rescued following the earthquake.

Taner Savut, the club’s sporting director, is also imprisoned while rescue efforts continue.
