Dr. Sherry Hanny Ayittey, a former minister of fisheries and aquaculture development, has reportedly passed away.
On Saturday, July 22, Sherry Ayittey, as she was more well known, passed away.
Nii Kofi Ayittey of Akwetey Nanta of Osu Alata, the family’s head of household, made this announcement.
Ascending to the position of National Vice Chairperson in 2018 after joining the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a founding member, Dr. Sherry Ayittey.
She had previously served as the Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology under the administration of former President John Evans Atta Mills.
She was one of the 19 cabinet ministers serving under the late President.
However, in 2013, the John Dramani Mahama-led NDC government selected her as minister of health.
After the NDC lost power in 2016, she became the new Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development.
She ran for and won the position of National Vice Chairperson when the party lost power.
