National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his support for the Free Senior High School (SHS) program and pledged to make improvements to it should he be re-elected president in the next elections.
Ghanaian President Mahama, who held office from 2012 to 2017, recognized the value of the Free SHS program in ensuring that all Ghanaians had equal access to education.
“The Free SHS policy has arrived, and I am dedicated to enhancing it,” he declared on Sunday while addressing reporters in Accra.
Again, he refuted allegations that he was against the policy, stating that he was in favor of it and that he merely wanted it modified to address current issues.
Regarding the Free SHS Bill, which has not yet been introduced in Parliament, Mr. Mahama declared that he would back it if its goal was to uphold and enhance the policy.
