Today, Tuesday, September 24, 2024, saw a protest by freight forwarders and affiliated trade associations in Ghana over what they see as unjust fees levied by the nation’s shipping lines.
Players in the business have been more irate about the rising costs, which they believe are taking advantage of the freight sector.
The Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders’ Vice President, Nana Asiamah Preprah I, emphasized the gravity of the issue in an interview.
“The rate at which the shipping lines are exploiting the industry is so frustrating,” he stated.
“This protest is essential to draw government and public attention to the challenges facing the nation’s freight industry,” he clarified.
The demonstrators want to draw attention to how these disproportionate fees burden their operations financially, which affects not just their companies but the economy as a whole.
Stakeholders are demanding quick action because the freight forwarding industry is essential to Ghana’s trade.
