The oil depots in Tema, Kpone, and its surroundings are connected by a shoddy road system, which has prompted the Oil Tanker Drivers Association in Greater Accra to go on a sit-down strike in protest.

The vice chairman of the group, Sunday Alabi, voiced alarm over the road’s deteriorating state, notably the existence of several hazardous potholes.

He emphasized that the risk presented to their safety in the event of an accident was unacceptable given the highly combustible nature of fuel.

The strike is anticipated to have a significant impact on the fuel supply to marketing firms and bulk distributors, such as Cirrus Oil Services, Goil Petroleum, Star Oil, Total Petroleum, and Galaxy Oil.

The strike will also have an effect on nearby mining companies, as well as individual and commercial vehicles.

Even though the walkout was meant to be non-violent, Vice Chairman Sunday Alabi emphasized that the people would nevertheless feel its effects strongly.
