At the Apamprama Forest Reserve, the Bekwai Forest District’s Rapid Response Team set fire to an excavator, water pump equipment, and Changfan machines.
This was one step in the fight against illicit mining in the region.
Ernest Adofo, the Bekwai Forest District Manager, revealed this to Isaac K. Normanyo, a correspondent for Adom News.
Mr. Adofo stated that the district was notified that illegal miners were working along the Oda River in the Apamprama Forest Reserve, which is situated in the Ashanti Region’s Amansie Central District.
But the criminals were able to get away before the crew got there, so they were not arrested.
No one will be permitted to devastate Ghana’s rivers and forests, Mr. Adofo said, restating the Forestry Commission’s dedication to safeguarding the nation’s natural resources.
