The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, stated that the youth of Ghana do not have the luxury of what he called “trial and error” in the next elections on December 7.

The former president said the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) hasn’t done well in the previous eight years and shouldn’t be rewarded with success while paying a courtesy call on Chiefs of Wicheau in the Upper East Region’s Wa West constituency.

He says that after a lot of broken promises, the decision Ghanaians made in 2016 is a valuable lesson for the voters to use to guide their future choices in the polls.

“We tried him [Akufo-Addo] in 2016, and the result is what we’re seeing today. So, where the country is today is not an issue of trial and error. We need an experienced hand to take this country and put it back on its feet,” Mahama said.

He emphasized that the future of Ghana will be determined by the impending elections in 2024, especially for the youth, who no longer had the luxury of taking chances with their destiny, in Mahama’s words. He emphasized that the nation needed experienced leadership like his own to steer it through its current economic challenges and put it on the right track.

During his speech, Mahama urged voters to reject political experimentation and select leaders with track records, expressing his resolve to rebuild trust in Ghana’s government and economic development.
