Ghanaian rapper OJ Blaq is dead

After fighting sickness for a while, Ghanaian rapper Andy Nii Akrashie, well known as OJ Blaq in the entertainment industry, was confirmed dead this morning.

At age 40, he passed away.

This morning, reports of his passing away spread widely since he had been suffering renal illness.

When he first signed an artist to Lynx Entertainment, one of Ghana’s top record firms, the rapper recognized for his clever lyricism was a prominent figure.

OJ Blaq released a number of successful singles when he was signed to Lynx, including “Target” and “Chale Wote.”

The rapper known as the Biggie Boy Lover, who had spent some time away from the music industry, disclosed in an interview last year that he had been diagnosed with renal failure and had been put on dialysis, attributing this to his bad lifestyle of the past.

OJ Blaq eventually shifted to urban gospel music and later released an album named Show Dem in 2022, drawing on his experience with renal disease.

Since the news of his passing spread, tributes from numerous participants in the creative arts sector have poured in.
