An inquiry has been opened by the Ghana Police Service into a TikTok video that went viral and included a person making threats against the First Lady and President John Dramani Mahama.
According to a police statement, the video, which has gone viral on social media, includes remarks that are thought to pose a risk to the President’s and his wife’s life.
Two people, Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu, have been taken into custody and are currently cooperating with the inquiry.
Officials say they are trying to find and arrest other people who may have been involved in the video’s production and dissemination.
“So far, two people, Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu, are in Police custody assisting the ongoing investigation while efforts are underway to get other persons believed to be connected to the video to assist the investigation.”
The Police further urged the public to abstain from making or disseminating remarks that can provoke violence or jeopardize public order, reaffirming their dedication to protecting the President, the First Lady, and all citizens.
