The National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, claims that corruption in the Akufo-Addo administration is severely suffocating the country.

Speaking at the formal outdooring flag bearer John Mahama’s running mate’s speech, Prof. Opoku Agyemang at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Mr. Kwetey said that Ghana has been morally collapsed under this present regime for about eight years.

“Our country Ghana over the last few years has been buffeted with turbulent seas and sailing against a very strong wind. Our leadership has been uninspiring and inept.

“We have lived under an administration that has been unable to be truthful and honest to the people of Ghana and never accepts responsibility for anything,” Mr. Mahama stated.

“There can be no question in our minds that the effect of this marred administration has been so insidious and pervasive, that today our people have lost faith and hope in not just the government of the day but in our democratic system of governance” he added.

Speaking at the same ceremony, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of NDC flagbearer John Mahama for the 2024 election, declared that corrupt government officials will face legal action under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) regime.

She says that the accountability concept is what drives the decision to punish officials involved in any kind of theft.

“Across the political divide, across social and professional groupings, among the youth, you hear of complaints and stories concerning state capture, where this government has chosen to use its power not in the broader interest of all Ghanaians but to favor a small clique. What is that?

“John and I have agreed, that whoever has participated in the plunder of the state must be held accountable. This is not a threat; it is a promise, premised on the wishes of our citizens across the various political and social divides, and hinged on the principle of accountability,” she added.
