September 2023 saw a decrease in inflation to 38.1% from the 40.1% seen in August 2023.

Even though there has been a decrease for two months running, this is the first time this year that the inflation rate has dropped below 40%.

Inflation rates for both food and non-food items decreased, according to data from the Ghana Statistical Service.

While food inflation dropped from 51.9% to 49.4% in August 2023, non-food inflation also fell from 30.9% to 29.3% in that same month.

At the regional level, the Ashanti area had the lowest inflation, at 31.2%, and the North East had the greatest inflation, at 54.4%.
