In order to concentrate on her health and recuperation, Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has decided to take a three-week medical leave from April 7, 2025.

Sources from Jubilee House confirmed this development.

According to reports, the vice president had to travel overseas for treatment after receiving initial care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra due to recent health issues.

Speaking to the public on April 6 in Lagos, Nigeria, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa reassured Ghanaians that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is recuperating well and will shortly return to her job.

Attributing her progress to the prayers and support of Ghanaians and people abroad, he expressed appreciation.

Speaking to the public, Ablakwa urged them to concentrate on her accomplishments and tenacity, dismissing health-related rumors as “vicious and unGhanaian propaganda.”

He emphasized how she can break down barriers and be a role model for young girls and women, and how she can inspire them.
