The Trede Hospital, which was put into service as part of the previous government’s Agenda 111 program, is still unfinished and not yet operational, according to Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.

According to the minister, GHS 100 million is needed to finish and officially open the hospital, which is situated in the Ashanti Region’s Atwima Kwawonma Municipality.

“We have inspected the Trede Hospital, and as you can see, work is still ongoing. I have been informed that over GHS 100 million is needed to complete it. There are also outstanding payments for work already done,” he stated.

On December 5, 2024, then-President Nana Akufo-Addo declared the hospital to be the first finished facility under Agenda 111 and officially commissioned it. The facility is still unfinished, according to recent sources, which raises questions about the project’s overall status.

In order to enhance healthcare services in Ghana, the government launched Agenda 111, which aims to construct 111 district and specialty hospitals. Only one of the project’s hospitals is finished, though, and President John Mahama reportedly said the government needs $1.7 billion to construct the remaining institutions.

In Ghana’s health system, the delay in finishing these facilities has grown to be a significant problem, and many are urging the government to move swiftly to guarantee that the project is finished on schedule.
