Eleven foreign nationals engaging in cyber fraud and counterfeit money printing were apprehended by the Ghana Immigration Service’s (GIS) Weija Sector Command at a domestic apartment in Tuba, Accra.
A press statement dated January 7 has this information.
“Suspects were apprehended during an intelligent-led operation conducted by the Anti-Human Trafficking and Cyber Fraud Taskforce Unit of the Weija Sector Command, on 5th January, 2026,” the release stated.
“Items seized from the scene include: Laptops, Routers, Mobile phones, Fake dollar notes and tabletop printers/photocopier machines. The suspects are currently in custody for further investigations,” it added.
The Immigration Service thanked the public for their unwavering support and advised people to be watchful and notify law enforcement of any questionable activity by any foreigners in their areas.
“The Service particularly urges landlords and property owners to exercise due diligence when renting out their properties to foreign nationals since harbouring illegal immigrants is an offence under section 52(1)(b) of the Immigration Act 2000 Act 573,” it cautioned.
“The Comptroller General of Immigration and Management of the Service remain committed to protecting the territorial integrity of the country and ensuring compliance with Immigration Laws at all times.”
