A former Energy Minister and leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Boakye Agyarko has urged the National Executives to give out the deputy positions to persons that are firm in decision making in order to break the 8-year jinx.
According to the NPP presidential candidate aspirant, the party should not nominate persons with no proper relations with party folks especially the grassroots.
Citing an example, Hon. Boakye Agyarko touted how former leaders like Dan Rocha, Dan Botwe and the likes worked with passion and integrity to make the party attractive till date.
Speaking to Otec FM’s afternoon political talkshow Dwaberem host Prince Nii Ade (Dr Cash) monitored by Ghanatodayonline.com, Mr. Agyarko told the host that the immediate past executives failed to live up to expectations especially in implementing the party’s Constitution.
“If you are not a winner, please do not be a bad loser. To the person who is selected, I say, please do not see yourself and behave as one who has won a great victory over many opponents. See yourself as a fortunate person whom fate has decreed to be our presidential candidate,” Dan Rocha once stated in his speech during the NPP delegates Congress 2008.
Mr. Agyarko therefore charged on the new leadership to emulate the Dan Botwe, Dan Rocha leadership style to make a difference which can enable the party make history and break the 8.
“I know the new Chairman and General Secretary very well and I believe they can do a good job but must be strong as the task ahead is not an easy one” he said.
Mr. Agyarko however advised them to be firm and non-partial in decision making and also always make sure laws in the party’s Constitution are applicable to ensure fairness for the party’s growth and development to break the 8.
“Being nice doesn’t take you to supermarket”
“NPP have elected 8 chairmen so far to lead the party but we only mention Bernard Joachim Dan Rocher (Dan Rocha) name. He is the standard that all chairmen should look after because of his past glory in the party. Fluent in so many languages and he was no nonsense person, he was firm and solid” Mr Agyarko stated.
“Anything in the party must be discussed with Dan Rocher but not any other person in the party”.
Dan Rocher used the party’s constitution always and he was firm like a ‘tin god’.
He advised Justin Frimpong Kodua (JFK) and Stephen Ayensu Ntim to be fair and firm so that they can also be remembered in the party’s history as Dan Rocher did.
