An agreement to raise the base salary for public sector employees was agreed by the government and organized labor.

Announced on Thursday, February 20, 2025, the increase will take effect between January and December of that year.

The Labour Minister, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, claims that the daily minimum salary has increased to GH₵ 19.97, following organized labor’s earlier demand for a raise in base pay.

A 10% increase in the daily minimum wage has also been approved by the National Tripartite Committee.

The increase will take effect on January 1, 2025, and last until December 2025, as per the agreement signed on February 20, 2025, between Organized Labor and the government, represented by the Ministry of Finance (MoF), the Ministry of Labor, Jobs and Employment (MLJE), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC).

The Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee (PSJSNC) and important parties, including as labor unions and government agencies, negotiated this agreement.

Less than a year has passed since the last wage adjustment. The most recent pay increase comes after a sizable 23% pay adjustment in 2024 that was intended to protect employees from the growing expense of living.
