The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has received GHC $50 million, according to a statement from the Ministry of Education.

The money is being used to fund the administration of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), and it is a partial payment of its obligation to the examination organization.

This is stated in a news statement signed by Ministry Spokesperson Kwasi Kwarteng and dated August 29.

“This disbursement reaffirms the Government’s commitment to fulfilling its financial obligations to WAEC, ensuring that the Council’s operations continue without interruption,” a part of the press release read.

“We wish to reassure all stakeholders, especially students, parents, guardians, and the general public, of our dedication to sustaining an environment that fosters seamless, efficient, and high-quality education for all Ghanaian students,” the statement added.
