The government will build 600 CHPS compounds nationwide by the end of 2025 as part of a larger effort to increase access to healthcare, according to Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of Communication at the Presidency and Member of Parliament for Abura Asebu Kwamankese.

Speaking at a donation ceremony held at the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District’s Brafoyaw Health Centre, Mr. Ofosu disclosed that the ultimate objective is to construct 2,000 CHPS compounds during President John Dramani Mahama’s four-year term.

“Each district will receive at least two CHPS compounds under this policy, with funding coming from the District Assembly Common Fund,” he said in an interview with Nana Tawiah of Accra 100.5 FM.

He stated that the current administration places a high premium on healthcare delivery, particularly in underprivileged areas where it is still difficult to obtain medical care.

“We are determined to bring quality healthcare to the doorstep of every Ghanaian.

The aim is to eliminate the barriers many face in accessing basic health services,” the minister stated.

One of Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu’s 2024 campaign pledges was fulfilled when he gave vital medical equipment to the Brafoyaw Health Centre as part of his efforts.

He revealed that because he was still a parliamentary candidate, he was not allowed to fund health facilities in his constituency, even though that was his original intention.

“Now that I am a Member of Parliament, I will ensure every health centre in this district receives the support it needs,” he poised.

Brafoyaw locals conveyed their sincere gratitude for the gift, emphasizing the urgent requirements that the money helps to solve.

Many had to seek care at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital since the health center, which serves a population of nearly 2,000, only had one old hospital bed, they said.

“This donation will go a long way to relieve the pressure on the health centre and improve healthcare delivery in our community,” a neighborhood said.
