The government intends to rename Kotoka International Airport as Accra International Airport, according to Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga.

One of the nation’s most iconic sites will undergo a significant transformation as a result of the announcement.

Speaking to media before to begin the meeting of the Second Session of the 9th Parliament, Mr. Ayariga disclosed this.

He clarified that the choice is a component of larger initiatives to represent Ghana’s national identity and democratic principles in public institutions.

“Government intends to rename Kotoka International Airport to Accra International Airport,” the Majority Leader said, noting that a bill would be presented to Parliament in line with established procedures.

He emphasized that these decisions must be based on the law and the will of the people.

Given the historical significance of the airport’s current name, the proposed renaming is expected to spark public debate. Once the issue is formally brought before the House, Parliament is expected to take a significant part in discussions.
