Adu Sarfowah, an actress from Ghana, has formally begun her attempt to hold the record for the longest speech given by a single person at the Guinness World Record (GWR).
The La Palm Royal Beach Hotel is the site of the record attempt, which got underway on Friday, February 9 and is scheduled to end on February 14, 2024.
English, Twi, and French are the three languages in which Adu Sarfowah will deliver her speech.
Sarfowaa must adhere to the record attempt guidelines, which stipulate that each speech must be delivered for a minimum of five minutes.
She must also avoid pausing for longer than thirty seconds in between speeches.
Her speech must be delivered continuously, with the opportunity for a question-and-answer period if the person posing the questions is not in the same area as the speech is being recorded.
The speeches also need to be spontaneous, impromptu, and have a different context than other speeches.
The person attempting the record is free to give the speech in any language they choose.
Anata Ram KC of Nepal currently holds the record for the longest speech marathon, clocking in at an astounding ninety hours and two minutes between August 27 and August 31, 2018.
Adu Safowah will go up against competitors who have successfully attempted the GWR and are awaiting official confirmation from GWR, such as Afua Asantewaa (sing-a-thon) and Chef Failatu Abdul Razak (cook-a-thon).
