Maame, a Ghanaian woman, was trying to set a new record for the longest gum chewing by an individual when she unintentionally fell asleep, which caused a brief setback.
Maame was seen dozing off in a relaxed position while seated in a widely shared video on Saturday.
She had already spent seven hours trying to chew gum during her GWR attempt when this happened.
She appeared to be about to give up on trying to break the record at that point.
But a few minutes later, she was humming along to a song and waving her hands wildly, clearly trying to stay awake so she could keep going for the record.
On Friday, February 9, Maame set out on her ambitious seven-day gum-chewing marathon with the goal of breaking the record of 41 hours without stopping.
The rules for this special record are simple: keep your mouth shut, limit your gum use, and be constantly timed and recorded by a committed team.
The longest-running marathon attempt by Ghanaian content creator Patrick Amenuvor has been called off.
In less than four hours, he had begun his seven-day Guinness World Record attempt on January 14.
Amenuvor ended the challenge because he believed there had been unintentional infractions of some of the stand-a-thon’s regulations.
The specific rules that were inadvertently broken remain unclear.
Due to these rule violations, Amenuvor chose to truncate the development, which was initially planned to span seven days.
