Alhaji Collins Dauda, the chairman of the Ghana Hajj Board, has revealed that seven pilgrims from Ghana died while performing the Hajj in Saudi Arabia in 2025.

Alhaji Dauda lamented the occurrence in an interview with TV3 on June 7, 2025, stating that two males and five women were among the dead.

He said that the families of the deceased in Ghana have been properly notified, even if their identities have not yet been made public.

“Unfortunately, for the 2025 pilgrimage, we have lost seven of our compatriots. Deaths are painful but death comes when it has to come. Regrettably, we take this opportunity to express our deepest condolences to the families back in Ghana who have been affected,” He was quoted by 3news.com as saying this during the interview.

Officials are scheduled to visit the relatives of the deceased to provide support and condolences, Alhaji Dauda added.

He also emphasized the steps taken by the Ghanaian government, working with Saudi authorities, to guarantee pilgrims’ safety and welfare.

Providing prompt medical care and other safety precautions throughout the journey are among them.

All seven of the pilgrims who died have been buried in Saudi Arabia in accordance with Islamic custom.
