President John Dramani Mahama has received the investigative committee’s final report on the devastating military helicopter crash that happened on August 6, 2025. The group is led by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Acting Minister for Defense.
On Monday, November 10, at a National Security Council meeting at Accra’s Jubilee House, the presentation was given.
The committee, which was established shortly after the crash, was given the responsibility of determining what caused the incident and suggesting ways to stop it from happening again.
Technical, operational, and environmental aspects that may have contributed to the deadly accident are reportedly covered in length in its report.
The findings will be made public on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, during an official press briefing, according to government sources, where important suggestions and next steps are anticipated to be presented.

The Ghana Air Force’s Harbin Z-9EH military helicopter (tail number GHF 631) was involved in the crash. The aircraft lost radar contact and crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District after taking off from Accra at approximately 9:12 a.m. on an anti-illegal mining operation to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
Sadly, all of the 8 passengers and staff members on board perished. Among the victims were Minister of Defense Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Science, Technology, and the Environment, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Samuel Sarpong, NDC Vice-Chair Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate
The Ghana Air Force, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), and foreign aviation specialists worked together to undertake the investigation, which was presided over by National Security Coordinator Abdul-Osman Razak.
