Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been made fun of by the Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Otokunor.

The deputy NDC scribe claimed that he purchased kenkey with his Ghana card on his way to the New Patriotic Party’s National Delegates Conference on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

He informed the NPP supporters at the Conference that the kenkey was so pricey that it cost GHC5.00 while speaking in a brotherly capacity on behalf of the NDC.

“I made the decision to purchase a ball of kenkey as we approached.

This kenkey ball costs 5 cedis.

It costs 3 cedis more to buy only the leaves on the kenkey than the kenkey itself, and guess what else?

Ladies and gentlemen, I used my Ghana card to purchase the kenkey,” he announced to laughter.

It appears that Mr. Otokunor was alluding to the Vice President’s comment that, in the country’s pursuit of development, he preferred the Ghana card above road interchanges.

The national identity card, commonly known as the Ghana Card, is deemed to be more advantageous than the multiple interchanges built throughout the nation by the Chairman of the Economic Management Team.

He declared on Thursday, “If you handed me 1,000 interchanges and a Ghana Card, I would prefer the Ghana Card because it is more significant.

After making this statement, the vice president faced harsh criticism. His detractors interpret the statement to suggest that the Ghana card might be used for anything.

Thus, Mr. Otokunor made the gesture. The NPP government, according to Mr. Otokunor, has been insensitive to Ghanaians’ suffering as a result of the country’s current economic difficulties.

The current economic crisis and challenges for all Ghanaians, according to him, are the result of the NPP’s “just offering weak leadership, inept leadership.”

He asserts that, despite the fact that the NPP has only caused Ghanaians pain,it is nevertheless the country’s most fortunate political party because of the unjustified degree of public support it has gotten.
