“I pray that we quickly recover from our individual pain and dented reputation to restore our public morality so we can join forces to soldier on”.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s unsuccessful candidate for national chairman, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has expressed his congratulations to the newly elected leadership.

He wished them well as their term began in a press statement that was released on Monday.

The newly elected National Chairman and other National Executives of our dear party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who were victorious at the just-concluded 10th National Delegates Congress held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, December 17, 2022, are congratulated on behalf of Team Ofosu Ampofo, he said.

In the meanwhile, he voiced his disgust with the divisive tenor of the election-related campaign.

They said that unnecessary personal assaults and public harm to the individuals’ hard-earned reputations occurred.

He said this has the potential to affect the party going into the 2024 elections.

“While this elections needlessly witnessed the worse form of inner vilification, personal attacks and public injury to the hard-won reputation of our Party through various means of public spaces and on social media platforms, this insensitivity would inadvertently affect our restitution, unity and cohesion needed to engender the collective prosecution of our agenda for victory 2024.”

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo has meantime urged the leadership to support the party’s speedy recovery and onward motion.

“Let us recognize that this win is but a warm-up for the fight that lies ahead.

The previous General Secretary, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, defeated Mr. Ofosu Ampofo in the race to remain the NDC’s National Chairman.

On Saturday, December 17, this took place at the party’s 10th National Delegates Congress.

9,200 delegates from the 276 constituencies gathered at the Accra Sports Stadium for the exercise, which was attended by party members from all across the country.
