President Akufo-Addo has promised President-elect John Dramani Mahama and Vice-President-elect Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang that his administration will make sure the transition goes well from today, Wednesday, December 11, 2024, until January 7, 2025, when they take office.
When he welcomed President-elect John Dramani Mahama and Vice-President-elect Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang to the Jubilee House on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the president made this commitment.
At around 11 a.m., President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei Opare welcomed the two leaders—the president-elect and vice-president-elect—at the Jubilee House’s ceremonial entrance.
President Akufo-Addo and John Dramani Mahama met privately for 20 minutes after taking pictures in the Jubilee House lobby. They then spoke to the Jubilee House press corps.
“I invited Mahama for two reasons,” President Akufo-Addo said in his remarks: one, to congratulate the incoming president, and second, to assure him of my complete commitment to making sure Mr. Mahama takes office as smoothly as possible.
On his part, President-elect John Dramani Mahama thanked President Akufo-Addo for congratulating him and offering him a hand of friendship. He said that he applauds the President’s dedication to a seamless transition and that he will make sure his team works with the Akufo-Addo government to make sure the transition goes smoothly.
