By the end of his four-year term, President John Dramani Mahama has promised Ghanaians that his administration will have resolved the nation’s economic crisis.
On Thursday, February 27, in his first State of the Nation Address to Parliament during his second term, he acknowledged the dire economic situation but pledged to steer the country back toward development and prosperity.
“I John Dramanai Mhaam will fix the economic crisis confronting our country and reset it on a path of growth and prosperity.”
“The state of the nation is not good. Our economy is in crisis, and the people of Ghana are suffering unprecedented hardships,” Mahama said. But instead of focusing on the past, he underlined his dedication to discovering answers.
“It is not my style to lament and shift blame. I am therefore not here to lament, even though there is much to lament about,” he said.
The president cited his prior accomplishment in resolving Ghana’s electricity problem to reiterate his reputation for keeping his word.
“I promised to fix ‘dumsor,’ and I fixed it. There was no power rationing or load management in Ghana,” he reminded the country that there was no load management or electricity rationing in Ghana.
In his speech, Mahama reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic recovery and stabilization and indicated that he is prepared to put measures into place that will lead the nation toward both financial stability and development.
