Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has said that he is more inclined to believe John Mahama’s statements than those of President Akufo-Addo when it comes to efficiently combating corruption.

The administration of President Akufo-Addo has come under heavy fire for not combating the canker despite vowing to do so when in opposition.

Should he be approved, John Mahama of the NDC, who is running for president again, has pledged to take on the canker head-on.

At a town hall meeting on Monday, August 12, at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, Mr. Mahama promised to hold those running for public office responsible should they be elected.

In contrast to the Akufo-Addo government, he has declared that he will address corruption from inside as well as from political opponents.

The President of IMANI, Mr. Mahama, feels he has the upper hand against Akufo-Addo, despite the fact that he also faced criticism during his presidency regarding the battle against corruption.

He stated as much in a Citi News interview.

“I can understand the caution, but [President] Akufo-Addo is not John Mahama. At least we tested both. As I understand, [President] Akufo-Addo has walked back on some of his words many, many times. No haircut, he gave us a dubious haircut.

“Galamsey [Illegal mining], he said he would put his presidency on the line and nothing has happened because the rivers are worse off now than ever before.

“I should be cautious, but I think I will trust John Dramani Mahama a bit more than [President] Akufo-Addo because unfortunately, [President] Akufo-Addo has proven not to be trustworthy on these things.”
