Francis Addai-Nimoh former Member of Parliament(MP) for Mampong Constituency, one of the top six candidates for the NPP flagbearer position, has vowed not to withdraw from the run-off election on September 2, 2023.

He clarified that if there was a tie in the August 26 Super Delegates Conference, the New Patriotic Party’s bylaws called for a runoff.

He won’t resign for anyone since he feels that this must be carried out to the very finish.

“Not at all. The rules are there. We are following the rules, okay? We adopted the rules approved by the national council of the party. And the guidelines said that should there be a tie for the fifth position, then there shall be a run-off to determine who occupies that fifth position,” he said.
When speaking to Alfred Ocansey on TV3, the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer candidate made this statement.

On November 4, 2023, the NPP congress will elect the party’s chief flagbearer from among a total of five candidates.

Nevertheless, at the conclusion of the super delegates meeting on Saturday, August 26, 2023, Francis Addai-Nimoh and Boakye Agyarko tied for fifth place with nine votes each, or 1.03% of the total.

In this regard, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) plans to organize a run-off election to select the fifth candidate to compete in the party’s presidential primary elections on November 4 alongside Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Alan Kyerematen, and Afriyie Akoto.
