The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Adu 2 Company Limited, who doubles as the Vice Chairman of the Quarry Association of Ghana, Mr Adu Tutu Gyamfi has refuted the recent comments and attacks from the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Nhyiaeso Constituency, Hon Stephen Amoah.
The CEO says he will not suffer for the MP illegal sales of plots within his legally acquired quarry site and the buffer zones at Afrancho Krobo in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region.
Mr. Adu claims that despite the MP selling lots of land both inside his concession and in the buffer zones, he has been using every chance he gets to incite the locals against his business on radio and television.
On August 7,2023, he spoke to the media in a news conference and begged Mr. Asamoah to stop inciting people against his company. He also encouraged the public to disregard the MP’s charges.
“The people of Buoho recently started a protest against my business, saying that my work is harming their ability to live in the residence, but all the people around my concession came to meet me there,” he stated.
After the two parties, the residents and I engaged in dialogue to find a solution, a court decision in my favor allowed me to carry on with my work, he continued.
He added that he has legitimate documentation from both traditional authority and the government authorizing him to work inside 74 acres of land, and he encouraged locals to avoid his acres until he gets used to them.
According to Mr. Amissah Felix, the Minerals Commission of Ghana’s Kumasi Office’s Inspector of Mines, mining of the rock benefits the state because it generates income for the nation.
Therefore, he gave the locals the assurance that they should maintain their composure since the authorities of the Minerals Commission will meet with all parties concerned to resolve the issue on the place in question.
