Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been warned by Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy Director of Operations at the presidency and former Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), that he will face justice, even if he dies, if he does not return to Ghana.

All appropriate steps will be taken to secure Ofori-Atta’s return to the nation and to recoup any public funds that he is accused of embezzling, Mr. Gbande emphasized.

His remarks follow the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) public designation on February 12, 2025, of Ofori-Atta as a suspect in five high-profile corruption investigations.

Some people think the action against the former finance minister is appropriate, while others have denounced the OSP’s strategy as being obnoxious with the NDC Majority Leader in Parliament describing the raid on Mr. Ofori-Atta’s home as disappointing.

“Every measure will be deployed to bring him back if Ken Ofori-Atta refuses to come,” Mustapha Gbande said on Monday, February 17, during an appearance on JoyNews’ AM Show.

” If, for any reason, he passes on, his dead body will be prosecuted and jailed, and every stolen penny belonging to the people of Ghana will be retrieved.”
