Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Member of arliament(MP) for Assin Central, has launched a vicious attack on Francis Asenso-Boakye, the sitting Member of Parliament for the Bantama constituency. Agyapong accuses Asenso-Boakye of corruption and calls on delegates to remove him from office in the approaching New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries.

The outspoken Mr. Agyapong asserted that Mr. Asenso-Boakye, the Minister of Works and Housing, should not be reelected because he was involved in corrupt activities during his presidency during a meeting with Bantama delegates in Kumasi.

He did not, however, back up his accusations with specific proof.

By saying that he would make the information public if delegates chose to re-elect the current MP, Mr. Agyapong alluded to potentially explosive disclosures regarding the minister’s purported corruption.

“If you make a mistake and vote for Asenso, you will all bear witness to the revelations I will unveil. It is a condition,” Mr Agyapong threatened, stressing: “If you don’t want me to talk, vote against him. If you want me to talk, vote for him because we will not allow them to destroy Ghana.”

In the forthcoming primaries, Mr. Agyapong is running a campaign on behalf of his brother, Ralph Kwame Agyapong, who is also running for the Bantama seat.

On Saturday, January 27, the NPP delegates will choose candidates for parliament from seats held by current Members of Parliament.
