“If it is truly witch-hunting, it will fail in court,” said Daniel Domelevo, a former Auditor-General and member of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee, in response to accusations that the committee was involved in witch-hunting.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, February 11, Domelevo clarified that anyone who believes they have been falsely charged can seek redress through the legal system, even though the flaws mentioned in the ORAL report are not definitive.

“If you think that we’ve damaged your reputation, you can go to court,” Domelevo disclosed it in an interview with Bernard Avle.

Captain (Rtd.) Nkrabea Effah Dartey, a private lawyer and former Berekum MP, has questioned the ORAL report’s legal legitimacy.

In an interview with Channel One News on Monday, February 10, he contended that the report could only be used as a reference for asking people to provide an explanation, not as a foundation for prosecution.

However, the former Auditor-General argues that investigation is outside their purview, pointing out that the ORAL report was founded on received information and so has no authority to look into the long list of complaints that people have submitted.

The ORAL team delivered its report to President John Dramani Mahama in Accra on Monday, February 10, 2025. After that, the President gave Dr. Ayine the report and instructed him to look into the cases listed right away.

According to information released by the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee, 2,417 complaints from both individuals and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have been received thus far.

Through the toll-free line, 1,493 calls were received. We got 924 emails as well. Thankfully, all phone conversations are automatically recorded, and emails have also been saved for validation and confirmation. “A total of 2,417 complaints were received.”
