The public has been urged by the Electoral Commission (EC) to ignore a widely shared social media video that purports to show a copy of the Ahafo Ano 1 and 2 voter registration forms being loaded onto a white pickup truck with more voter registration forms.

The EC confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday that the Voters record depicted in the video is not the Commission’s official record. The EC claims that, contrary to what is shown in the video, their registers are black and white.

The Commission also emphasized that political parties print their own copies of the Final Register for their agents to utilize. The EC stated that the truck in the video is not the Commission’s property.

The public should ignore the aforementioned video. It is intended to sow doubt and suspicion about the Commission and its operations.

Samuel Tettey, the deputy chairman of the EC, requested the police to look into the situation, pointing out that the pick-up truck’s registration number, which is apparent in the video, would help investigators.

“It is important to note that the Commission provides the Final Register to the Political Parties. As has been the practice, the Political Parties also print the Final Register for their Agents. Additionally, it is instructive to note that the truck in the video does not belong to the Commission” the portion of the statement reads.

“The Public should disregard the said video. It is calculated to create suspicion and mistrust for the Commission and its work” the statement added.
