Ghanaians should expect high-quality governance from the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, according to assurances given by former President John Mahama.

In order to revive the economy, the next National Democratic Congress (NDC) government intends to implement a 24-hour workday, according to former President John Dramani Mahama.

The NDC’s presidential candidate for the 2024 election declared that his administration would make every effort to reduce the taxes that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) levies on Ghanaian companies. He claimed that this has caused Ghana to lose its “envious position as one of Africa’s leading destinations for investment.”

Mr. Mahama stated that the 24-hour economy plan would allow companies, with government backing, to operate a 24-hour shift that would address the unemployment issue and improve the nation’s economic fortunes during a meeting with the Trades Union Congress (TUC) leadership in Accra yesterday.

The NDC’s presidential candidate, surrounded by a powerful entourage of party heavyweights and leadership, such as Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, who is his running mate in the 2020 general election; Casiel Ato Forson, the minority leader; Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the party’s chairman; Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the general secretary; and Nana Oye Bampoe, the former gender minister, said the initiative was also a part of the transformative measures the party would implement if elected in order to address the economy’s deteriorating conditions.

“We intend to implement a 24-hour economy, and by this, we will provide incentives in terms of reduction in corporate taxes and other exemptions to businesses that would sign up to the 24-hour economy initiative.

We would provide them with the necessary security to enable them to operate for these long hours,” he indicated.
