Malik Basintale, the Youth Employment Agency’s (YEA) acting chief executive officer, has firmly stated that if the present GH¢250 salary for sanitation workers doesn’t alter, the agency will not be renewing its contract with Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
Basintale criticized the present rules of participation in a strong-worded Facebook post on Friday, April 25, calling them unfair and exploitative to Ghanaian youth.
His remarks come in response to mounting public criticism, especially from investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni, who has long opposed the contract’s renewal on the grounds of mistreatment of employees and violations of its provisions.
Similar views were expressed by Basintale, who claimed that the existing system is a “rip-off” of the impoverished Ghanaians and cannot be permitted to go on under the current government.
“All my life, I have fought for integrity and for the better placement of the youth and people of Ghana,” Basintale wrote.
“I promise on my honour as I stand by the grave of my late DAD, NOT to RENEW the contract in its CURRENT STATE or FORM. It is EVIL for the previous government to have committed to this and I SHALL STOP IT,” He said, promising that under President Mahama’s path, workers would receive fair compensation.
“If my mother, brother, or sister were a Zoomlion worker, I wouldn’t be happy with any of them taking GH¢250 as salary,” he added, expressing his personal worry over the predicament of sanitation workers.
Mr. Basintale asked everyone to join him live on Facebook at 8:00 p.m. to express their opinions and talk about the future of the controversial deal.

All my life, I have fought for integrity and for the better placement of the Youth and people of Ghana.
For 7years, 9 months, the NPP renewed the Zoomlion contract in its current state paying the Ghanaian Youth/worker Ghc250.
H.E John Dramani Mahama came to review, reset and bring Ghana back on track.
This includes ensuring that every worker is paid satisfactorily for the work done.
I promise on my honor as i stand by the grave of my late DAD, NOT to RENEW the contract in its CURRENT STATE or FORM.
It is EVIL for the Previous government to have committed to this and I SHALL STOP IT.
My brothers and sisters, On December 7th, 2024, Change came and Change must Happen.
If my mother/Brother/Sister were a Zoomlion worker, I won’t be happy with either of them taking Ghc250 as Salary and as such I can’t be happy with you, your mother, father, brother or sister taking same.
I Shall be live tonight at 8pm here on Facebook to take reviews, comments and the way Forward.
May God bless us all.
