President John Dramani Mahama has given all government appointees who have not yet complied with asset reporting regulations a strict deadline of May 7, 2025, failing which they will be fired.

The President’s order coincides with further initiatives to ensure accountability and openness in his administration. The action comes after some appointments missed an earlier deadline of March 31.

Mahama emphasized the gravity of the situation while speaking at the Code of Conduct for Government Appointees unveiling in Accra on Monday, May 5. He said that non-compliance will have dire implications for everyone.

“If by close of day, Wednesday, 7th May 2025, any of you still fails to declare your assets, count yourself automatically dismissed because when it comes to protecting the integrity of this government, I will not compromise,” he said.

In addition to imposing financial penalties on defaulters, Mahama mandated that anyone who failed to meet the March deadline forfeit three months’ wages and make an obligatory one-month gift to the MahamaCares Fund.
