If the party accepts nominate ons for the election of the national executives, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that he is prepared to take on Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the NDC General Secretary.
He told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM that he doesn’t take rumors seriously and denied any plans by the party’s general secretary to challenge him in the upcoming election.
“This is not the time for me to show off; I have done that and other things before.
Even if we are not there yet, I am telling you that I will defend my title regardless of who challenges me.
He emphasized that the party membership has faith in him and will refrain from acting in any way that might imply that he is the only one who understands all that will help the party win the elections of 2024.
Last week, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and the entire NDC national executive team were in Kumasi for the Ashanti Regional NDC membership drive campaign. The goal was to increase the party’s support base in the region, which gave them less than 37% of the vote in the 2020 general election, and to recruit new members for the party.
